Frequently Answered Questions

Is there a way to delete comments?

Comments and drawings made before the "Save" button is clicked are removable by clicking on the "Undo" button. However, after saving, the sticky notes are only removable by the owner of the copy.

What does published / kept-secret mean?

Kept-secret copies (and its comments) will never be revealed by the SharedCopy website. This means, unless you publish the generated URL somewhere else, or pass it to somebody else, only you can access copied page because only you have the link to it.

On the other hand, published copies (and its comments) automatically show up under your homepage on the SharedCopy website. This works like blogging does: publishing and sharing your bookmarks and comments online, for whomever might be reading.

If you are using SharedCopy for website designer work, it is advisable to change your settings (go to your Settings page) to default as kept-secret so that your internal communications won't be published for search engines to crawl, cache and index.

Note: this was previously termed as public and private

Won't caching the webpages take up a lot of diskspace? Images, etc?

Only the HTML text is cached. Images and other externally referenced files are still retrieved from the original website when browsing the cached copy.

What happens to the copy when the original page changes?

Only the textual content will remain unchanged as per copied. However, any modifications to external resources (e.g. external stylesheets, images, Flash objects) will be reflected even in the copy. This is because such external resources are not cached in the SharedCopy database.

Can I use this on my website to gather beta user feedback?
